For Children
(under 12 years old)
Children who are on the autism spectrum commonly experience difficulties with their speech and language. They might take a longer time to understand instructions, have trouble expressing themselves, need a longer time to process information and struggle with social communication.
Some common concerns of parents are of their child having ‘delayed speech’, not responding to their names or verbal commands, and not understanding what their child wants.
We offer:
Speech & Language Assessment and Intervention
What you can expect:
A phone interview will be done prior to the start of the first session, to first get to know your child’s background and history.
A mixture of formal and informal assessments, and an observation of your child will be conducted to determine your child’s learning profile, and identify their strengths and areas for improvement. Assessments will take between 1-2 sessions.
Therapy goals will then be set in collaboration with the parents and intervention sessions will take place through a mixture of activities and play.
Sessions typically run for 45-60 minutes (inclusive of a short depending on the nature of the intervention.
For Adults
Clients who have suffered stroke or any other injury to the brain, will often find themselves with difficulties articulating their thoughts clearly. Their speech might sound different and unclear, and they might have problems with getting the right words out.
This can be frustrating for both the speaker and the listener. Additionally, many also develop a swallowing impairment that makes eating and drinking dangerous for them.
Apart from stiffness and difficulties with movement, individuals with Parkinson’s Disease are reported to experience issues with their voices and also have a swallowing impairment.
Meals and fluids might need to be modified to ensure that they do not choke, and in severe cases, they might need to be placed on tube feeding.
We offer:
Speech and language assessments and intervention
